Ali excelled herself again in her last competition before her holiday winning the Elementary Qualifier at Abbey Dressage on Sunday 24th November. She scored another 70+% score to gain enough points to qualify for the winter regionals. So now to decide which regionals to go to with them both as none of the venues are particularly close. Ali is having a well earned rest now and so far is being very well behaved!!
I was excited a couple of weeks later to see that she had got a great little report on her success in the Horse and Hound!!
Donovan is doing some jumping twice weekly now and getting back into the swing of things well, with his technique improving all the time. He has jumped up to 95cm at home and I hope to take him to Summerhouse EC for some unaffiliated jumping this weekend. He is also going better on the flat and I have been using some of the techniques and flexion exercises shown by Adelinde Cornelissen at the British Dressage Convention at Hartpury who was so enthusiastic and inspiring! After a nice weekend off in Tenby I had today off work and with mum and dad away did the horses at home fitting in a lesson with Mike Garman on Donovan, we worked on his collection and keeping the same steps in the half pass – all very helpful and lots to practice!!
Finally I have to mention my fabulous little 13.2hh pony Charlie, on whom I really fell in love with eventing. I have ridden him a couple of times in the last few days and at 21 years old he is still as “up for it” as ever. Pinging through a grid with the uprights at 1m on friday (click here for video) and today over the log to skinny in the field! He taught me so much (not least to stay on bucks haha) and has continued to teach many more.
